According to the Migration Policy Institute, more than 36 million people in the U.S. identify as of Mexican origin, a number that speaks volumes about the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

The Mexican community plays an indispensable role in the U.S. economy, contributing to critical sectors such as agriculture, construction, and hospitality. These industries have long relied on the skills, work ethic, and resilience of Mexican immigrants, who make up a significant portion of the workforce. Perhaps the most powerful testament to this cultural integration is the rise of bicultural identities. Second and third-generation Mexican-Americans embody the blending of Mexican and American values, serving as cultural bridges between both nations. Their presence in education, media, and the arts ensures that Mexican culture continues to thrive and influence broader American society.
Political and Social Influence
The Mexican-American community’s growing political clout is undeniable. As key voters in swing states such as Arizona and Nevada, Mexican-Americans have increasingly shaped election outcomes, both at the local and national levels. The 2020 presidential election, for example, saw high levels of engagement from Latino voters, many of them of Mexican descent, who turned out in record numbers to make their voices heard on issues ranging from immigration reform to healthcare.

The most powerful way to do that is through your vote. I encourage you to learn about the candidates, just as I have. After careful consideration, I am supporting Kamala Harris and the Democratic ticket, as they prioritize the issues that matter most to our community: the economy, education, voting rights, healthcare, reproductive rights, and immigration.
